The wait was an hour and a half, without reservations! It was worth it tho. The music was good, the food was great & the vibes were great. Salmon croquette brunch was really good. The apple pie French toast was so good and the chicken tenders were so well seasoned. The drinks were good, margarita flight and strawberry marmosa were all good. Food came out fast and was fresh. My friends who had the strawberry shortcake French toast said it was so good & the lobster and grits were well seasoned. Whenever I come back, I'll be sure to make reservations in advance. The music was a mix of hip hop and r&b and definitely the dj kept the vibes going

Yeah! Made it to Sugar Jam!! My niece flew in to have brunch with me. We arrived just after nine without reservations and was able to be seated on the patio. Our server, Nevonte is excellent and provided amazing service. I'm really loving my first time. The food was DELICIOUS! My niece ordered the Fried Lobster with Creole Shrimp & Crab N' Grits. She enjoyed it. I ordered the Fried Catfish N Grits. I asked for cheese on the eggs but I didn't see or taste and cheese. I also ordered a side of bacon. It was good but I can pass the next time the Friday Catfish was well seasoned and very tasty. The food didn't take long at all. I went to wash my hands after ordering and the food was on the table when I returned. The restroom decor is amazing. The weather was perfect for patio seating. When we got up to leave, inside was jumping. We came at the right time. They give a shot for birthdays but my niece told him I wouldn't want one so they gave me a cookie. It was delicious and tasted like there was some spice in it. It was an overall good first time experience.

This place has a very live vibe, DJ stirring up the crowd and servers very outgoing. We arrived for a lunch reservation on Valentine's Day to a pretty packed house. Seated immediately, our server came by to pitch drinks and give us time to decide on food. We weren't drinking, and she seemed disappointed. I am sure the $18 cocktail crowd has a blast here at brunch but I prefer the value of happy hour. I chose the creole shrimp and grits, and husband ordered the fried shrimp po boy with french fries. There are not a lot of gluten free options, but I had already planned on shrimp and grids, a standby favorite of mine anytime we visit a Southern style restaurant. Sugar Jam did not disappoint, the shrimp were large, plump and snappy in a thin broth with excellent creole flavors. The dish is topped with two crab balls, which I tasted and pronounced delicious but knew they were likely made with wheat flour. The dishes accompanied by two eggs any style, I ask for mine over well. It is extremely rare that I get eggs cooked exactly the way I wanted but they were perfect with a little jammy middle and not runny. My only complaint is the tails on the shrimp are all saucy and a bit messy to remove. The grits had a wonderful creamy texture and I really enjoyed this dish! Husband's fried shrimp po boy was on a classic French roll with Chipotle remoulade sauce, lettuce and tomato. This is the NOLA way! The same big shrimp are breaded with cornmeal and fried, a generous portion. French fries were seasoned but ordinary. It was fully and happily devoured. No tails on the fried shrimp. We also opted not to have dessert, and made a quick getaway. The photographer taking portraits was a nice touch although we didn't purchase and they didn't even offer pricing, just showed us the prints in frames. Happy V Day!

Since our move here in 1997, Peg and I have been so fortunate to meet and enjoy incredible Chefs and their visions in non-chain Chef-owned restaurants in the Valley. One of the best finds is Sugar Jam! We first met a Co-Owner (Dana Dumas) over 7 years ago . The food is incredible and consistently great. While the roots were baked goods at one time the vision has expanded and the menu is varied and the Southern roots are alll over it! As you would imagine, the biscuits are flaky, moist and delicious. Grits are such an individual taste thing and they are superb here. Catfish is something that I grew up on and the prep is incredibly favorable and fried to perfection. Salmon croquettes are delicious and always incredibly meaty and well done. The brisket and pulled pork dishes are soo good and we came from KC and know our way around BBQ. Both front of the house and back of the house have been professional and proficient and in the midst of busy services they remain on-point and focused. Service has always been so personal (thank you Jermanay and Navante) and attentive and the Chefs (thank you Jess, Sauce, Kiki, and Jesus) have been very mindful of what is being sent out. I would strongly recommend reservations! There is good parking and an outside patio that is dog-friendly if this is a requirement. The weekends are buzzing with excitement with a DJ and energy levels are pumped up in the middle of the food and service. This place is in our small circle of "family gatherings" and we always look looking forward to continuing adventures!

02/07 Came in before 11 AM on a Friday and was able to immediately get a table but I hear that it can get crowded fast. Service - our server was cool...all of the food came out piping hot and drinks stayed refreshed. Food - I had the French toast and fried chicken combo. The French toast was very tasty, the eggs were fluffy w/ a perfect amount of cheese, and the fried chicken was crispy & seasoned well. The kool aid was a perfect balance of sweet & tart as blue. Ambience - the DJ was on the 1s & 2s spinning all the 90s hits...we could barely contain ourselves as this was the music we grew up listening to. I'm so glad we came...a good time was had & we sending everyone we know here that comes to PHX. Next time I'm in PHX, this is my first stop.

Two words: LOVED IT! The vibe was spot on the staff was welcoming and accommodating. We had a party of 10 for a bachelor/bachelorette weekend and everything was perfect! The food was delicious (especially my oxtails and grits) and the drinks were great also. There were tasty brunch shots and an epic mimosa tower for us to share. The DJ was fantastic and we loved every single thing he played! All in all, everyone enjoyed themselves and SugarJam was a perfect choice for what our group needed. Cheers!

Great Southern style cooking and a very fun spot for a weekend visit! They have live music and a DJ on Sundays to entertain while brunching. My two favorite dishes for brunch are the French Toast/Fried Chicken- Grand Marnier marinated challah bread served with buttermilk fried chicken tenders drizzled with SJ signature BBQ-maple sauce served with eggs, housemade vanilla butter, and rum pecan syrup! The second favorite is the Fried Lobster/Creole- Fried lobster tail on top of southern-style creamy grits layered with seven sautéed shrimp in savory creole gravy and two handmade crab balls. The staff and service are both very pleasant and easy to get along with. They are PACKED on the weekends so best getting there as early as possible on Saturday's or Sundays.
